Getting The Right Exposure With Flash


whenever I use fill flash for indoor pictures, the faces turn over exposed ,even dark faces turn white. when I reduce the flash power, the picture gets dark. Plus the colors are daul. am using a minolta Dimage7, and just cant get the right exposure for indoor/night pictures or colorful pictures.Any tips?

Peter Mantione
  try setting your camera to auto or program mode. These 2 modes calculate the distance to the subject and will give you the correct exposure.

but thats what I do, and still the flash will completly kill the colors.

  What type of flash are you using? Is it the built-in flash or an external flash on the hotshoe? If it is an external flash, what model is it?
