Photography Question

Kelley May

Photoshop Tricks?

Hi! I am new to the photographers end of the camera and have a couple of questions concerning photoshop techniques.

1. How did he make my eyes translucent green in the picture below?

2. How do you batch process a group of images to thumbnail size to save on a cd for a potential client?

3. How do you batch process your copyright info on those thumbnails and/or portraits?

This is all very new to me, but I've always loved the camera from either end. Any advice referencing the questions above or my work is greatly appreciated!

Kelley

  1. change image to greyscale. use hue/saturation with colorize to change to sepia tone. Then use marque tool to select the eyes, and use hue/saturation with colorize to change only the eyes to green. Or could use layers by duplicating the image, make one sepia tone as before. Select all, cut and paste over color image. Make layer of color image green. Then erase only the eye part of sepia toned layer show green shows thru. Using layer mask so you can correct if you don't edges clean.
2.If you have a program that allows allows batch processing, just use that to resize your images in one step. Go under image size and change one dimension, such as 2048 pixels to 500.
Again if you have a program that allows batch processing, you use the text tool to add it on to the image before resizing. If not, you can make a new background(file>new or ctrl-n) the same size as your pictures, and use text tool to make your name thing as a layer, select the layer and cut, and keep pasting on all imgages. If it's the same size as your pictures, it will show up in the same spot on each one. Then you'll just have to flatten each one.

Thank you VERY MUCH, Gregory for actually answering my question.

And, Karma, I am a certified trainer, so if you want my secrets?? Oh, and Dr. Robert Young in San Antonio, TX did the enhancement.

And what is lmao?

Everyone else, did you have time to look at any of my shots? I'd really like some professional opinions.

In all seriousness, Kelly, look for Scott Kelby's book! I self-taught myself photoshop by reading books and internet tutorials!

By the way, LMAO....Laughing My A** Off

Thanks Kelly--I was just joking around. I do a modified body for life program and have a full gym in the basement (free weights and all) so I'm on my way to figure like yours!

I looked at your shots. Some are quite nice in composition. You're getting camera shake in some as they appear just slightly out of focus...so watch that. Also watch your lighting. Try not to shoot much in harsh direct sunlight.

Best advice is to look at other photos here or in books and read how they shot the photos. If your camera lets you use manual then learn manual control--auto bites. It's much better to figure out which exposure you need for your particular shot.

I can't tell you about batch processing as it's not something I do. I custom do my signatures for each photo to match the color and content of the photo. Photoshop is best learned by reading tutorials. You can look up "photoshop tutorials" and hundreds of sites will come up. It's easy to teach yourself!

Good luck,

Karma

Oh please, you've got to be kidding. You've dropped your share of unsubstantive answers in the form of dorky jokes Gregory. It's just your nature to be contrary to current trends. :-)

Uhh, you're reading in something that's not there. Don't let your pixels get rustled.

You guys are too funny... I must be crazy because I did not see a picture of you Kelly. I did look at your photos and I love the one of you daughter Kaitlynd. She is beautiful!! Try photoshop to sharpen the picture. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It also would look great in black and white!! Debbie
