lens kit

hi Guys
could someone help on this. there is an availability of sigma lens kit for $249.00. Below is the description that the seller mentions about the lenses. since I am a rookie please help me understand if this is the write deal.
I have a Canon Rebel K2 (would it be compatible?)

DESCRIPTION: Sigma 2-Lens Kit With 18-50mm Zoom and 55-200mm Telephoto Zoom Lenses- Canon

The 18-50mm is a compact, lightweight zoom lens designed to suit the characteristics of digital cameras
• The 18-50mm has a max magnification ratio of 1:3.5, variable angle view of 69.3-27.9 degrees, and max diameter of 60mm
• The 55-200mm is a high-performance telephoto zoom lens designed specifically for use with digital SLR cameras
• The 55-200mm has a filter size of 55mm, max diameter of 70mm, minimum focusing distance of 110cm, and max magnification of 1:4

IT DOES MENTION DIGITAL, WILL IT WORK WITH REBEL K2 FILM CAMERA?
THANKS
MI

Manish, the lenses would probably work with your rebel BUT I don't buy Sigma lenses unless they are in their "EX" line. THe EX lenses I've had good results with--the regular sigmas not so good. I haven't used these lenses, so look them up on review sites and see what others say. I've just made it a rule for myself not to buy Sigma unless it's an EX lens.

Manish - DON'T BUY THESE LENSES.

I agree with Karma's statement that the EX series is better than Sigma's standard lenses, but more importantly, I'm fairly certain that the lenses you are describing are from Sigma's new DC line of lenses that are ONLY compatible with certian digital SLRs. These lenses have smaller image circles which will work fine with the Digital Rebel and other Digital SLRs with a sensor that is smaller than the standard 35mm frame.

If you use one of these lenses with your 35mm film camera, you will most likely get vignetting (dark shadows around the perimeter) at certain focal lengths.
