Photography Question

Darina Fennell

Trading in my SLR for a digital. advice?

I have for the past two years used a Nikon N80 but now wish to invest in a digital. I am leaning towards the Nikon D70 and assuming I can use my old lens. But I am open to suggestions if somebody can convince me to switch to Canon or other?
Any help appreciated,
many thanks

You are correct in that your current Nikon lenses will fit all current Nikon and Fuji bodies. Of all the currently available digital bodies in the Nikon lineup, I would definitely go with the Fuji S3, unless money is an issue, then I would stick with the D70. But that's my opinion, and you may have different needs or desires in a DSLR.
The Canon 20D is a worthy camera in the Canon lineup, and offers more for the money than anything in the Nikon lineup.

That said, I would not recommend buying anything without first putting your hands on it, and taking it for a spin. Then YOU decide. Why let a perfect (or not-so-perfect) stranger spoil your day by convincing you to buy a camera that is not in your best photographic interests? And who knows your photographic interests and financial situation the best?? Certainly not me, or anyone else on this site! No one can really decide which camera is best for you, but YOU. I'd recommend reading up on all the bodies that are of interest to you, and within your defined price cap. There's plenty of info available at the click of your mouse. Take advantage of it. Good luck.
