Going to Portland Oregon

I'm driving my wife and some of her students to Portland Or in 3 days for a 3 day conference. My only worth is driving them there and back. I've never been there. Anyone who has been there/lives there have any good shooting ideas or locations??? Or bars....:-)

Portland is a very beautiful city. The downtown area is great for pj people work, very photogenic. It's lovely. Lots of sculptures and fountains. If you really want some stunning photos Cannon beach and Astoria are ABUNDANT photo ops. The bridge in Astoria is gorgeous and the sea scape in Cannon beach one of the most photgraphed in the world! Both are a few hours away. You're also not far from Mt. Hood which is breath taking. But if you want to keep it simple just walk around downtown in the town square. There's a lovely brick "ampetheatre" type thing where people just lounge around on the stairs drinking coffee, playing instruments, loitering! Ha ha. That's how it was when I lived there anyway.

Have fun!

  Thanks to you both.
I think the falls, if I read the map right, are too far east. And I think Canon beach is too far west. Since I have a son who plays club lacrosse www.creasemonkeys.com, "b" team, tall kid on the right, and want to take pics there around 11 Saturday morning for a game just south of Portland, I think I'll just wander around town .....
Yeah, I know, too much information.
Thanks for the input.
Bob

  Robert,
The woodburn tulip festival is going on right now, it's about 30 minutes south of Portland, lots of tulips. Multnomah falls is about 45 minutes east on highway 84, it is pretty cool. Good luck.
Mike.

One of the most beautiful public gardens in the world in in Portland! The rose gardens & the Japanese formal gardens are combined in one. Many photo-ops!
