We need more info on what you are photographing? What do you mean photography for an album? Anyways, go for a speedlite that you can use as a slave, you save money then. I am not familiar with Nikon, but I have the Canon 420EX Speedlite and you can swivel it etc. I have also just purchase infa red equipment of Ebay which alows you to work wireless so you can have you flash coming from any direction. Maybe a black backdrop - black velvet is best, it absorbs the light and you don't see the creases in it. A large white sheet is also always handy. A reflector - if you can't afford a proper one, just get a windscreen shield/cover - preferably gold if you are photographing people especially. An 18% grey card Filters: Cir Pol filters are great for increasing saturation of colours in photos UV filter is a must and should just be left on the lense at all times to protect it. Maybe a warming or cooling filter too? Sorry, we need more info on what you are photographing... But I hope this helps.

Whoah! That's more than what I thought I needed. You guys are fast! Sorry for the lack of info, the baby was hungry:) I will be shooting for a music album for my brother-in-law's singing group. My partner(husband) will do all the photoshop work before we make it into a cover and cd booklet. They are going for a jazzy mature contemporary neo-soul "uptown-chic" feel, so I would like to use earth tones.
