Compact Flash card - what size? I have opted to go with purchasing another CF card as opposed to getting any kind of media storage device. Can anyone suggest what size and type would be best? I currently have the Lexar Media Professional CF/40x/512 mb I've seen some that are 1GB and also 80x. I'm thinking that maybe perhaps I should go with something like that? Maybe... Thank you!

Hello! I'm thinking what probably some others and probably yourself are thinking. You should probably try to get the largest card that is comfortable for your budget. I think the 10D (is that what you're using the cards for?) will benefit from the higer 80x write speed. 1GB is what I would recommend. I know the prices do jump up once you get to 2GB though. You will definitly want a lot of memory if you are going doing wedding photography like I think your gallery shows. If you have a lap top or do end up getting some other kind of media storage, you could empty one card to the storage device while you're using the other card and you won't have to worry as much. I think ipods can store pictures but they write slow from what I've heard. Hope this helps!

Thanks Andrew! I have not heard consistent good things about any of those storage devices, iPod included. That is why I decided to get another card. You answered my biggest question when you said the 80x would be good. I didn't even know that was an option until I started doing some research. I know this may sound like a dumb question but, how many MB's is 1 GB?

Hi Susan The fastest CF card out at this time is the sandisk extreme III, this card writes at 20 MB/s. You won't need this unless you are doing high speed sports photography. Even there, many cameras like the Nikon D2H and the Canon EOS1 d series have a large buffer making write speeds mostly irrelevant. A better value is a microdrive from a company like Hitachi. A 4GB microdrive sells for less than $200, a comparable CF card is more than twice the price.Hope this helps Matt
