Expired B&W film

HI All,

My question is about expired BW film. I've heard about color shifts with color film when it expires, but what results can I expect if I were to try expired BW film?

I am very tempted by some cheap BW film on eBay, but would love some more experienced opinions.

Thanks in adavnce for the help!

Steve

By "cheap BW film on Ebay" do you mean it's cheap because it's expired or because it's an off-brand film? Either way, I would avoid it. But I have no objection to using expired film.
The difference is - I don't buy it already expired. Doing so, you are trusting that the seller has kept the film refrigerated. I would not trust this, as you don't know where the film has been for the past few years.
Buy quality film, and keep it refrigerated yourself. If it expires, continue to use it with no worry. At least you know where the film has spent its life. Buying cheap and/or expired film is playing Russian roulette.
Wise up.

  Thanks Mike,

I was reffereing to expired film on eBay going cheap, but I'll avoid it.

Out of curiosity, what happens to BW film when it gets old?

I have some film that I bought myself that is approaching expiration age. What sort of results can I expect if I decide to use it?
