Photography Question

Nicole Friend

filter for wide angle lense

I shoot with both film and digital. I have almost convinced myself to buy a canon 16-35 lense and am unsure what brand filters to buy. I want a UV and a polarizer and don't know if the filter will cause softness or darkness around the edges of the wide angle. Any advice would greatly help.

Also, if you have used one of these how easy are they to hand hold stopped down? Thanks!

Hoya, Tiffen & B+W are good brands. They should not cause any softness or darkness at the edges.

Some 'better' brands like B&W offer "thin" mount filters, which are preferable for extreme wide angle lenses to help prevent vignetting.
