action photo in low light without a flash
I have difficulty taking good pictures in artificial light. It works great in the outdoor sports shots but not in the indoor photos. I can't use a flash in my daughters dance comtetions.I have seen the pros do it with the same kind of camera and lens I use just. I do not have any luck with the picture being to blurry or it has way to much noise in it .

Set a high ISO rating, and the widest aperture (smallest f-number) avaible on your lens. Noise due to the high ISO can be somewhat corrected in post-processing. If you have a DSLR, then you can also switch to a larger maximum aperture lens. Whether Canon, Nikon, Pentax, or Minolta, their 50mm f/1.8 is one of their sharpest lenses, and it usually sells for less than $100. At f/2 you can use a shutter speed 4x faster than the kit zoom at f/4; 8x faster than f/5.6.

I do have a canon Digital rebel. I also have several sigma lens ranging fron a 28 to 80 to a 170 to 500 and plenty lenses in-between. I will try a lens with a smaller ( f- number). hopefulley with a lot more practice and a different lens it will work out better , the difficult thing is to find a lens without spending 4 to 6 thousand dollars on a telephoto lens. At a dance competition you can not get up too close and you can not use a flash. Thanks for all your advice.
