Photoshop vs Elements

Does anyone have an opinion on the full version of Photoshop compared to Elements?
Also, if you have Elements did yours come with a manual of some sort? I don't have a manual and the Help section doesn't work on mine.

Just curious about others experiences.

Thank you!

I am using the Photoshop Limited Editon 5.0 that came with my scanner and I am happy because I only do basic level adjustment, a little color correction or saturation sometimes, resizing and sharpening. That's all. I print the images not using Photoshop but the print utility that came with the printer. By the way, the Photoshop did not come with a manual. I just do a lot of search on the internet and try and try and try ...

I would suggest a google search on Elements and also check out Rick Sammons book "Complete Guide to Digital Photography" it has alot of instructions onhow to use photoshop. I feel it is a must read.

I have elements 3.0, it's great! Altho I've never seen the full ps to compare it to. Also just bought a book by Scott Kelby, "the photoshop elements3 book for digital photographers"...easy to understand with step by step pictures.

created color layer for wheel, sign and flag and oversaturated; used channel layer to turn rest of photo to black and white; multiply layer of b&w to darken it; screen layer of b&w and used gaussian blur to create mist effect.

I'm new to the site, but not to Photoshop. I have been using Elements since 1.0 and it's been great. This past year, I got the full CS as I am working on old family shots. The biggest differences between the full and Elements are: layers and the patch tool. The layers allow you to do a lot of extreme makeovers to your photos (see Delta King below) and the patch tool is a magnificent creature. It does basically the same thing as the clone tool, except it adjusts to changes in coloring. Which means if you have a face shot and there's a zit on the nose, you can "patch" it out without losing the shadows. I've also used it to remove tears and scratches in old photos without losing the details of the image. If you want a basic ability to clean up your photos, Elements will work great. If you want to do a lot of manipulations, etc., go for the CS.
