Bad Prints From Digital

I just bought a really nice Fuji 1400 digital camera. The pictures look great on the computer but when I print them, they don't compare to the prints from the film cameras. I don't think the quality is so good.

Is there something I can do to print out better quality pictures? Does putting a special cartridge in my HP Deskjet 697C printer work? I just don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the 600 series HP printers needed a separate photo ink cartridge. If you select that you're printing a photo, but left the normal ink cartridges, the colours would come out all off.

Try just printing it as a colour image and not as a photo. That might help. Better yet, get the correct ink cartidges. Also, try glossy photo paper. It makes the colours more intense and realistic.
