Using spotting scopes for nature photography

I am looking for a long lens. As my camera is not auto focus, I am having difficulty finding a lens to match my camera (Minolta). Yes, I am toying with the idea of buying a new camera, but am exploring this avenue first.
Has anyone out there tried using a good spotting scope, such as Celestron, for long range nature photography? I would like to know your results, and if you felt the purchase was worthwhile? Also, what equipment did you use. Thanks. Lee. lee@accutek.com

There are telescopes out there that you can mount a camera onto it using special lens adapter. You can check out this:

Hope this helps.

  Hi Andy,
Thanks for the response. I have several locations to purchase the equipment, but what I am asking is if anyone has tried it, and what their results, and quality of results in nature photography were? Thanks. Lee.
