580EX versus 54 MZ4

Hello....
I'm a wedding photographer.I have an EOS 1N and using 550EX and sometimes I switch to 54 MZ3 as my speedlight.I'm considering buying a new flash unit and digital camera in future.I plan to buy the flash unit first to use with my EOS 1N.Can anyone let me have their views on these two models which is the best to use with my system.

All help is much appreciated.

The 550EX is fully compatible with the Canon DSLRs and you do not need another speedlight. While it works fine in traditional TTL mode with the 1N, it has advanced functions such as E-TTL, and FP high speed flash sync, that the 1N can't use, but the DSLRs can.

If you meant instead that you currently have the 540EZ, then this speedlight is usable with the DSLRs only in full manual output mode. In that case you should look at getting the 550EX or 580EX.

I believe the Metz 54 MZ3 can be used with a Canon DSLR if you have (or upgrade to) the SCA adapter 3102 M3 that emulates E-TTL.
