Aperture Range on Zoom Lenses

The aperature range settings on my Tamron 24mm-70mm is 3.3-5.6. Does this mean that the loss of light at f/22 is equivalent to f/32 when shooting fully extended (70mm) at f/22? If so, how gradual is the drop-off at focal lenghts between 3.3 and 5.6?
Thanks.

f/3.3-5.6 refers only to the maximum aperture available through the zoom range. At 24mm you can set f/3.3 and any smaller aperture like f/4, f/8, etc. At 70mm the apertures you may set are f/5.6, f/8,... but not f/4 or f/3.5.

f/22 is f/22 whether you are at 24mm or 70mm.
