Photography Question

James E. McKinney

How to shoot photos in a cave?

Doing some caving this weekend and thought about taking along my camera. Would it be worth it? How would I get any decent shots?

Check with your buddy, but it's likely to be wet, muddy, cramped and wreck the camera. Suggest you take something old that you don't mind wrecking, prefereably with built in, not external flash - like an old 35mm compact with a widish lens and manual film advance, fixed or manual focussing, clip on lens cap etc. Keep it in a ziplock bag with something to pad it around it. Try and clean/dry it before it goes back in the ziplock. Shoot at f8 or smaller cos you won't be able to see to focus, so zone focussing is a good bet.
