DECEMBER PHOTO CONTEST? Everytime I log onto this Better Photo web page, there is a new photo for "second place winner for the December Photo Contest" Is the contest called "December Photo Contest", or was there a million second place winners that month? Or was it a contest for that month only? Or did everyone get second place just for entering? Will we ever get to see the second place winners for January and February? What about the First place winners? Just CURIOUS! Am I the only one who sees this? Willie

If you go to the Home Page you can see the December winners link. Every month there is one grand prize winner, one first prize winner per category and 10 2nd place winners per category. The January finalists are posted there also and we are hoping to have the link to the January winners today. As for February - the contest page tells you the results should be in by March 21st. Hope this answers your question. DDK

Willie, What you are seeing is a random selection of past winning images (over the past 5 years or so now, ...) The reason you think you ONLY see the SECOND place winner is that there are more second place winners than others. As DDK said, there are only one grand prize winner for each month and one first place for each category and the rest are second place winners. By the law of random selection, the second place is the most frequently selected images.

PS: I just went to the Home Page and did "refresh" for several times... What you described seems to be right for now... Each time, it displayed the second place winning image from December... I'm not certain whether BP has changed the this algorithm along with all the other recent changes to this site. While I think it may be good to display the winners from the previous month, but I, personally, like the other way, that is, random selection from the past years...
