Photographs under blacklights at a dance. I have been asked at the last minute to photograph a school dance under predominatley blacklights. I have a Canon EOS 5. I need an answer right away and cannot find anything on the internet about it. The dance is tonite...can you PLEASE help me with what I might need? I thought I might shoot at f.2 with a film speed of 1/1000 -1/1600...is this coorect and do I need a filter? Thanks so much!

You can use Iso: 400 and 800 and still get great images. Iso: 1000 and 1600 will come out grainy which could help and/or hurt an image. I'd shoot one roll of 1600 just to see how it comes out but stick with 400 or 800 and just use a tripod or monopod if you can, that could help you get away with no flash. Also you should meter for the kids and not the light behind them otherwise you will get a whole roll of silouettes. As for filters, You might want to do without only for the reason that you will lose about 2 stops of light(and in low light,Two stops count). If you insist on using a filter Go with an 80a filter; Most schools don't have the money to have expensive lighting so more than likly it will be tungsten lit. hope I helped some...
