Photography Question

Amanda K. Padgham

new to digital photography and photoshop

Hi all! I am somewhat new to digital photography and photoshop and would love some suggestions for new techniques. I mainly take shots of my son who is 6 months old. So far I have learned how to make some color come through a black and white photo and use the diffuse glow but that's about it! I would love to learn how to desaturate. ANy ideas or pointers! Thanks so much! Also, how do I post a photo?

  Hey Amanda,
Photoshop is a very powerful tool. It can cost a couple of hundred dollars for an eight to 12 hour learning session on Photoshop.
I looked into my local community college and paid 11 dollars for 6 three hour classes on Photoshop. A great deal and I learned alot.
Good Luck!

  Amanda,
Here's how to desaturate:
With your image file open, go to the menu bar at the top of Photoshop, then go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation.
When the Hue/Saturation window opens, you'll see a slider for Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. Slide the Saturation slider to the left to desaturate. All the way to the left
(-100) will be black and white with no color.
Buy a good book, make friends with a photoshop geek, or take a course. Learn as much as you can, and practice, practice, practice.
