Backdrops I have alot of questions lately sorry! ha, The newest I have is How would you fair Paper backdrops as to muslin backdrops. I have a muslin backdrop, it is okay. I have to keep storing it becuase I dont have the room to always keep it up so I have problems with fold lines. I figured with the paper I wouldnt have that because it is rolled? Paper backdrops are cheaper I just wonder how they are? Thanks!

I can't imagine a "studio" without paper backdrops. No matter how much you may use muslin or canvas, there comes a time when smooth paper is needed. Paper backgrounds are mostly solid colors, whereas muslins can be anything. Use paper if you want a really smooth background, unlike the folded look you can get with muslin. You can also create hot spots and shadows very easily on paper backdrops. Since you mention that you are having problems with the muslin folds, paper may be your ticket. I would recommend always keeping white in stock, and possibly gray or black. Unless you need a really big backdrop, I'd advise just getting the 54" paper rolls. Paper backdrops are relatively cheap, so think of them as being ultimately disposable. When your paper shows signs of wear, cut it off, and continue down the roll. Michael H. Cothran www.mhcphoto.net
