i'm looking for people who have used this lens/ Ta Tamron Special 28-300mm Section: XR Di i am looking to buy this lens and was wondering if any one has/ and how it holds up given the huge range.. is it garbage or is it a decent lens? thanks .. sg

I bought one last month when I visited Hong Kong for HK$ 2,600 (app US$ 333). I am quite happy with it. Pros: compact, light weight, good for traveling, good images: I took pictures of flying sea gull at 300 mm (equvilent to 450mm in 135 film camera)it can give details of the wings when enlarge to 8x10 in. I also won first prize at the local model contest by using this lens at 70mm (Nikon D70). Cons: not wide enough (eq 35mm in 135 camera), small aperture 6.3 at the 300mm tele end. I give it a "9" for the value/price ratio.
