Photography Question

Leonid Strizhevskiy

photographing jewellery for ebay

I read somewhere that people use a kind of a small transparent tent, in which they put the subject, to make the lightning even. Can anyone enlighten about this thing and where do I buy it.I am anxious to do a good job.
Thanks,
LS

There are many manufacturers who have jumped on this bandwagon. Do a 'google' of 'light tents', 'light cocoons', 'jewelry photography', etc and you'll come up with several. I do jury slide photography, which includes jewelry. I've made a few systems out of white plexiglas, shower curtain material, and softboxes. The lighting concept, which you have to grasp, is simple - surround your subject with light, and make the light a large flat source which is significantly bigger than your subject.
