What type of glass filter will fit my Tamron Lens

I have a Tamron 28-200 AF LD Zoom lens. I was using a Cokin Filter System yet have decided to go back to glass filters. I'm very interested in Hoya yet I don't know if it will mount to my Tamron lens. The lens has 3 long slotted grooves on the barrel instead of the traditional threads. Do I need to buy some kind of adapter that will "click" into the slots on one side and have the standard threads on the other side to screw in a glass filter. The lens barrel size is 72mm. Please advise. Please contact me at truefocus@comcast.net Thank you.

Sincerely,
Ken

  Hi Ken,
Are you sure you're not confusing the lens hood threads? My lens all have inside threads for circular filters or to screw in a filter holder for the drop in types. Might want to check lens again. Best of Luck,
Kip

Your lens should have traditonal threads. Just by the fact that you know the barrel size is 72mm, indicates it should accept 72mm accessories, including filters. Go to the nearest camera store, and try one on.
