  To get the most utility from your scan, you would scan at the highest ppi (pixels-per-inch) your scanner can do. Save and archive a full-res scan in the TIF format for printing later, AND reduce the resolution and convert and Save As to JPEG for posting on the web (such as to a betterphoto web page). If you want ONLY to post to the web or email, I think 2000 ppi should do it, but you would still need to work the image (get the tonal levels what you want, clone out dust spots or unwanted detail such as electric wires, etc)and THEN reduce it for JPEG. For TV, try one at full resolution, 200 ppi, and one at 72 ppi, about 800 pixels wide. See if the lo res version is acceptable for TV. If not, use the next highest res version.
