Photography Question

Bruce A. Fichelson

Medium Format

I'm interested in the thoughts of anyone who has had experience using the Fuji GX680iii. I'm debating whether to sell my mint camera and three lenses and keep my Rollei SL66e or the reverse. Just don't know if the size and weight of the Fuji will cause me to leave it on the shelf. It's main attraction to me is the format plus the tilt/shift. Already ruled out large format. Thanks in advance.

Two reasons buy any 680 -
1. Lens movements (you mentioned)
2. 6x8 format (nine exposures per roll of 120), which (in my opinion) is much nicer for most standard size cropping than 6x7, and a LOT less wasteful than 6x6.
I've handled the camera on several occasions in a local pro shop. I own two Fuji 6x9's and can attest to their image quality. I own a Mamiya RB67 Pro SD with a rare Mamiya 6x8 back, and can also attest to the beauty of the 6x8 format.
If you can live with its bulk, you can't beat it. With the III, you get cropping guides for the film backs so you can change mid-roll, I'm told, from 6x8 to 6x7 to 6x6, and 6x4.5. I've never owned a 680 because it is just too bulky in the field The RB and RZ are enough!), but I would sure like its lens movements out there.
