Opinion on digital SLR What do all you guys and gals think of using a digital SLR for wedding photography, school portraits, and othe money making ventures? I am wondering because I just bought a Canon Digital Rebel and am thinking about starting a small business to help pay for my hobby.

Brandon, I think it is great and it is exactly what my sister-in-law does!!! She has a Canon Elan 7e and did location portraiture and finally bought the digital rebel and she loves it!!! She is going to do her first official wedding in March!!! I say, "Go for it"!! One of these days I am going to do the same!!!

For all of you that do wedding photography, what lenses are a must have for a successful day?

I have a Sony Cybershot with Carl Zeiz Zoom Lens and it is great for Portrait s. I also do theatre photography and it is great in the low lights of the theatre too. I ususlly do outdoors only, to save money on getting a studio. And I was wondering if it is acceptable to just use this Camera for a business as well, and I guess the answer is yes!

Tika, Hope you're keeping an eye on this. I was at the Pyle wedding also, the woman with the Canon Rebel and Katalina's camera, running around like a chicken, etc. I'd like to talk with you about my wedding! Address: joeichelberger@earthlink.net Thanks!

I am currently usins a Canon Dig Rebel, and couldn't imagine NOT using it in a portrait business. That's what I do, strictly portraits, not weddings. I have a 28-80mm lens, its fairly fast, and I really like it (it's a Canon lens)
