Photography Question

Studio Lights

I am new to stuido photography. I have a used set of Norman lights and two power packs that have 800 watts of power ( I think - adjustments for 200 or 400 on each side).
With all the cords it takes to set them up I'm afraid of someone tripping! I've been asked to photograph some dancers for a ballet and I'd like to purchase lights that have the power in the head. I've read about them but don't know anything more.
Can you recommend a set up?
I'm using a Canon Elan 7.
Thanks, Donna Jones

  Donna-
I teach the Lighting for Commercial Photography here at BP and I use both Norman in the studio and White Lighting on location. The White Lightnings are excellent lights and are very reasonably priced. I was able to arrange a discount on lighting packages for my class and I recommended the WL 1600's. Medium power. The 3200 is the most powerful. Are you lighting them on the stage over a broad area? If so, you will need lights with a lot of power. Are you able to rent them in your area?

Dear Charlie, Thank you for the information! I will look up those lights in the catalogs. And, sounds like I should look into your class! Thanks again for the quick and helpful response!
