IS THIS AN ILLEGAL IMAGE? Will someone please look at this image that I posted in the contest and see if it may be an image that is against the law to shoot. I also have two other images similar to this on my website. http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/discussionDetail.php?threadID=194143 ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Greg!!!!! I appreciate the quick reply. I personally didn't think that the feds would come after me for something like that but I'm not a lawyer. Why would this be considered a legal image?

I'm glad this came up as I was planning on doing some concept images with money for stock. I had heard it was illegal to photograph money at it's full size, but I had no idea it was so restrictive. I've also looked at different stock sites and there are various sorts of stock photos with money in them, some far more detailed than what you have here Donna. I better read up.

Use to be real restrictive on how you could photo or film money. Used to not be able to use real money for filming tv,movies. It's been change for some time that the law concentrates on photographing and/or copying plus the intent of what you're going to do with it. If you photo money, no problem. If you photo it and then try to use it in some way as fake legal tender, then you're going into felonies of copying with intent and then trying to go thru with it. Where I went to college, they have this program during the summer where smart high school kids can take some college courses. A group of about 4 or 5 of them tried to photocopy some dollar bills and tried to use them in vending machines and change machines. Being minors kept them from anything worse than getting kicked out the program. An analogy could be it's okay to dress up like a cop for a costume party, but if you actually try to impersonate one, lots of trouble for that.
