How Do I Take Slide Photos I've been taking prints for over a year and now I'd like to try slides, but I know nothing about them. I'd like to know what equipment I need to see them, what film I need, and can I take these with a regular 35mm SLR? Can a regular photo shop develop these? Please add anything you think may be useful. Thank you.

The first thing that needs to be understood about slides is that shots are developed as positive images as opposed to the negatives you are used to. That said, shooting slides is almost identical to shooting for prints, the major difference is that there is little you can do to your image after shooting so precision is key. Buying film is a little tricky unless you know what you're looking for: stay away from Kodachrome--it requires k-14 processing which typically requires 2 weeks because it needs to be sent away. Slide/transparency films such as Kodak Ektachrome or Elite Chrome require E-6 processing and can be developed in an hour at many photo shops. These are standerd 35mm size films and can be loaded into any SLR. Slide projectors are good for viewing slides but can be pricey. Most camera/photo shops sell little slide viewers for $10-$50, depending on the extras. Light tables also work, or you can just hold your images up to a light. I hope this helps.
