Photography Question

Moyra Black

Will I be able to buy 35mm film in 10 years time?

I have heard that Kodak and Fuji are to stop production of 35mm film. If that be the case is there any point in me buying an SLR camera? As I do not have a digital camera or regular access to a pc my choice for a camera is severely restricted!

I'm afraid it's not a rumour, it is fact!
Maybe we will still be able to buy 35mm but will I be able to get it processed, I'm not lucky enough to have a dark room!

35 mm print film will the first to go. It's getting far to easy and convienient to get great quality prints from digital images to keep it around.
I think that medium and large format print film will hang around a while longer,...until the technology progresses to the point where it's no longer practical.

Transparency film will probably hang around the longest, due to its uniqueness and popularity, and due to the difficulty in getting a good slide from a digital image.
Eventually though, the technology will probably evolve in that direction as well. (Hopefully, not for a long time.)
