Macro magnification ratio I know that a magnification ratio of 1:1 is the best. Is it even worth buying a lens in which the magnfication ratio is 1:2? Or is it just as good? Thanks,

A 1:2 (1/2 lifesize reproduction lens) will fit most close-focusing requirements unless your macro subjects are really tiny. A 1:2 will have greater depth of field at it's closest focusing distance than a lens that achieves true lifesize. You can always add extension tubes and get to 1:1 and beyond if you want.
