Image Protection

I'm not sure of the terminology...
What is a good resource to learn how to protect images on a web site from being captured by a visitor to the site by them using "save image as". I have noticed some photo sites protect their images somehow so that they can sell their images as their products rather than their pictures being pirated.

  HI Karen,

I am a web designer and digital photographer so I understand your concerns. One way to hinder thieves 'stealing' your images from your site is to emboss your logo in the center of the photo, this works if you are selling them and they can only download this version, usually a low quality pic. You can also embed the graphic or photo with a Digimarc watermark (in Photoshop) so anyone who grabs the photo really can't use it, more or less a copyright.

But being a web designer, the best way I have found to keep people from stealing my images is to print my name and copyright year at the bottom of a photo and go to javascriptsource and cut and past the "No Right Mouse Click" code into your site. Once you do this, no one can right mouse click on your page. Since most people who are surfing the net these days are homegrown web pirates, they won't steal them. But it's not fool proof.

I hope this helps you.

Donald

I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. My computer has been in the shop. Anyway... thank you so much for your help! You have been the only one who has been able to give me a real answer.
