Multiple exposures

I have a Canon Rebel 2000 slr. Recently tried to take multiple exposure of the lunar eclipse. Set camera to multiple exposure function. When I got the prints back there were 5 different pictures of one moon, instead of 5 different moons on one print. Reread manual, no help. What did I do wrong?

:-( Sorry you didn't get your in-camera multiple exposure. Good news is that you can scan the series and combine them digitally into a single print.

When you set for multiple exposures, the display changes from the current exposure count to the number of multiple exposures you've set ("5"), then counts down with each exposure (4, 3, 2, 1). After the last of the multiple exposures is taken the film advances and the display returns to the current frame count.

You should have noticed that the camera LCD was showing the count of frames remaining on the roll rather than the multiple exposures remaining, and that the film advance motor was running after each shot instead of just the mirror clap.

My guess is that after setting the multiple exposures you used a "basic" exposure mode (green box or PIC icon). The multiple exposure mode works only in the creative modes - P, Av, Tv, M, and A-DEP.
