How to connect studio strobes to the Pentax istD I've been having trouble getting my studio strobes to fire from a PC cord like to my Pentax istD. I'm using a safe shoe and the test button will fire the flash, but nothing I'm doing will get the strobe to flash from the camera. I've been having to connect my flash unit to the camera and firing it to get my strobes to fire as slaves. Can you please help me???

Pin not making contact inside the shoe, or you need a new sync cord.

Hi Gregory, thanks for your response. I tried mounting the safe hot shoe again, it's Wein and I realized it all doesn't fit into the hot shoe. I'm guessing that's probably the problem, but how do I rectify that? Could I mount a Pentax hot shoe first, then the Wein safe shoe, or could that potentially cause problems?

If the hot shoe on the body is made so that it only fits certain flashes, light sensing slaves may be your only option. If you were saying that the wein thing is too big to physically fit into the camera shoe properly. The pin I was talking about was the little pin on the male end of the sync cord that fits into the hole of the adaptor. Sometimes that needs to be bent to the side slightly so that it makes contact with the adaptor.
