Double exposing film How would you go about double/triple exposing film on a Canon AE-1?

I very distintly remember that being in the instruction manual. If you don't have it anymore, try to find it online. I have a similar vintage Canon, and I know it has something to do with taking the first exposure, depressing the film-rewind button, rotating the rewind crank a certain fraction on a turn, cranking the film advance lever again, and a final step which escapes memory.

http://www.canonfd.com/choose.htm has manuals online free. I don't think the procedure's in the manual, but Alex has it mostly. Take the first picture. Flip the lever out on the rewind knob and turn it gently to make sure there is no slack. Press the rewind button on the bottom of the camera, then crank the film advance lever. It should recock the shutter without advancing the film.

It's in the Canon Ftb manual (it just happens I had one of this oldie). Pressing the rewind button and crank the film advance lever WILL advance the film. Please see here: http://www.canonfd.com/ftb/ftb42.htm

Good find, Andy. Can't speak for the AE-1, but I have an AE-1 Program, and the procedure I described will recock the shutter without the film advancing.

Jon, I am sorry if I made a mistake about the AE-1. I have the Canon Ftb and the AT-1 and I tried the way you described, they did advance the film. Thanks for correcting me.
