Photography Question

Botched negative developing???

If you are shooting color film, in the dark, of lit objects (like pumpkins and houses) and yet your whole roll of film comes back with nothing on it-- could it be a development error or can there be some other cause (besides photographer error). The roll of film I got back recently should have had some nice pictures of decorated houses and several close up of light pumpkins- but I got nothing! The contact sheet shows all images gray- not black like I would expect if they were underexposed. The negatives appear clear except for a few dots (teeny dots) in relatively the same place on each exposure. I've done night photography before and have had nothing like this happen! Any chance it could be a development issue??

Sounds to me like the film didn't advance, that is, you didn't a chieve a proper film loading. It happens to everyone at least once.

You need to look at the edge print, the text that says "Kodak" or whatever along the edge of the film. That was exposed at the factory and if it developed OK, then it is not likely to be the fault of the film processing.

It shouldn't have been a film loading issue or an advancement one; my camera would have (or should have anyway) shown an "E" in the lcd panel...and it wouldn't have advanced like it did. It sounded like it rewound fully- as if it was sensing film to rewind. And yes, the Kodak does appear on the edges of the film. But I'm still wondering about those dots on the negatives. They seem to be identical spots-in the same place- on several negatives in a row. Strange...
