A photo essay is using several photos to illustrate a story, or kinda follow a theme. Like to do one on your schools marching band to illustrate from when the start practice at the beginning of school to when they perform during a game at half time.
You get photos to show practice and how the deal with the long hours the practice. Maybe they deal with the heat in late August. Then add photos during class because they have to rehearse the music. There's what they do before they head to the game, finish it up with some photos during the half time performance. Try to add in a couple of things that aren't really performance or practice, but are part of being in the band, like practical jokes members may play on each other, or anything about how you end up making close friends from being in band.
Something that's not a beginning to end story could be what's always a big part of high school for some, and that's fashion. Just a whole buch of photos showing the differences you can find.
They can be fun when you don't look for the obvious.
