Photography Question

Frank P. Luongo

Did I go overboard with digital manipulation?

I have 2 photos; both of a portion of a stone gate belonging to a bridge. The gate has an easthetically interesting design.
One photo is OK, has some sidelight to provide some depth.

The second photo I digitally edited because I saw potential for a sriking absract piece.

What are your thoughts about BOTH photos?
Did I go overboard with the digital manipulation?

I like the abstract/enhanced photo much more than the original. What all did you do to achieve this? I think the purple and red really make the colors pop out on this picture. As far as going overboard.... do you like the end result? It doesn't look much like the original, but it's very artistic and appealing. I think you did a great job.

  Thanks Lori!

To achieve the final result I used photoshop.I selected the colors. I then used the polygonal lasso tool to select individual areas of the gate and filled in those areas with the selected colors--using a burn in coloring mode. I then chose to distort the image for the final result.
