CCD Green Sensitivity

Hi, I have a bit of a techy question:

I've read in a number of places that our eyes are more sensitive to green (in the context of designing image sensors) which is why they put more green in an array of sensors (like in a Bayer diagram.) But that just doesn't make sense to me. Why would they use more green if our eyes were too sensitive, compared to red and blue. Wouldn't it make more sense if our eyes are less sensitive to green? Then they would put more green in the sensor to compensate for this lack and bring green levels up to where red and blue are. Does that not make sense? Am I missing something?

Thanks.
