Photography Question

extracting from background

How can I extract my object from background (see image)in PS? (I have PS CS).
Exstract filter doesn't work because the object lacks a clear interior AND the colors of the foreground differ a lot. I tried also background eraser and magic eraser- no matter how I tried parts of the bouquet were erased.
What can be done?
Leonid

adjust the tolerance of the magic wand(if there is one on cs) or go thru and cut big chunks out first and then clean the edges with eraser tool

Come on Leonid, we did this in class. Use the Channel mask by duplicating the channel with the most contrast and then forcing the tones to Black and WHite with Levels. That shot should be fairly easy to do this way, see lesson 8 in Toolbox 2.

Thanks Lewis,
Sorry,I failed to do a satisfactory job on it, especially at the part of the image presented below: the contrast between background and foreground is minimal.

Leonid don't feel bad. I copied your image and I could get it either. The background is just too similar. If you want to do this I suggest you buy a blue screen for the backgrounds or place a white sheet behind the flowers as a background.
