Niko F60 faults

Hi !

In December, 1998, I offered my wife a Nikon F60 camera bought in my city of Béziers (France)
Since then, we've had several times the same problem : unwanted automatic rewinding midst of rolls.
It was first repaired in March 2001 (147 €), then in March 2003 (252 €); checked for free in September 2003, free again in August 2004. But the problem is still there.
We are amateur photographers, take our cameras during school holidays where we travel. I’ve had a Nikon F4 since 15 years or so and have been satisfied with it. I thus used to trust Nikon, but they seem to have a problem with the F60.
I have looked on the Internet and not found this unwanted automatic rewinding listed as a known fault. Do YOU know about it ?
The present position of the sale shop is that they are willing to make a paying estimate ; but we’ve had enough with expenses on this camera. What could I do ?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Claude, I had the same problem like yours, but on an F801s - N8008s in the US.
But mine always rewinds back in mid roll and I cannot stop it , sometimes only after 3 or 4 shots. Have it checked free, will not do any good as the rewind motor is already weak. Try to hear its film advance motor when its advancing the film after every shot. I sent it to Nikon singapore for repair and was charged $200 sing or about $110 Us dollars. I used it for eight years already when the problem starts. the first time I sent for a free check , they said nothing wrong with it. If u can confirm the weak motor sound, then I think it's not worth to replace as it is very expensive considering the price of F60 is not so expensive on the used market. But then again it's up to u because I myself value my equipment so much that I will always repair it at any cost. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer,Ishak. As nobody else answered, I guess it's a bit weak of a file to sue the Nikon people. I just have the poor consolation that I am not alone to have found this problem with the F60 / F80.
All the best,
Claude
