How to sell preschool portraits

I am in the planning stages of opening a preschool photography business. However, i'm having some difficulty in determining the best approach to selling the portraits. I'm aware that some companies return and sell the portraits in person. I would suspect that this would generate higher ticket sales than the traditional check and envelope method. How do I conduct/organize such a sales day that will run smoothly without parents having to wait to view their children's portraits? In general, I would appreciate some help on the most effective way to present the preschool portraits to parents (ie. printed proofs sent home to parents, or should I return to sell in person... how about online proofing????

Help Greatly Appreciated,
Scott R.

Are you using digital? I would think that if you are, the best way to do this would to set up a lap top, and then schedule the sittings probably 30 minutes apart. You would be able to shoot, let the parents view the results and order their packages. Then deliver the prints at a later date. And ideal situation would be to see if the preschool would let you set up shop on a Saturday, then you would have the whole day and not be rushed.
