Photography Question

Lisa

Upgrading from a P&S

I use a point & shoot digital which does the job but I'm getting frustrated at its limitations. I'd like something with a wider range of options - eg shutter speed, ISO range, etc. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the options available. Also budget is a consideration - so second hand or "last year's" model would be fine. Ideally I'd like something that I could learn to use and improve technique before moving up to a grown up camera with all the separate bits & pieces. Please help!

Hi Lisa, you will probably get a lot of opions, but mine is first. I have a Minolta Dimage Z2 that I consider abut the best all around for the money anywhere. It can be fully automatic but has most of the pro type manual functions you could want. I cant make a mistake with it. And the zoom of 380mm cant be beat by even some of the best slr digitals. I guess its still considered kind of an intermediate point and shoot, but I think it is great for just about anything short of really pro. Check it out at Steves digicams.com. Oh yeah resolution is great at 4mp. And its only about 350.00. You can also adapt up to 52mm filters of all types which I did.

  Hi John
Just a quick note to say thanks. I took your advice and checked out the Z2 - just as you said - a "teenager" camera to learn on before I get a grown up one.

Lisa hi, Well I didnt really mean this dimage z2 as a teenager camera. It is a fine hi tech instrument that will actually rival anything on the market,
I didnt tout it too much originally because somebody out there would just shoot it down and try to talk you into a thousand dollar camera that you will probably never have a real need for. I think if you buy a z2, you may find you will never let it go. Dont forget you can ad adapters and filters for just about any effect you want in addition. Your friend John. Check any gallery mine included for pictures taken with this.
