Family Portraits I have been asked to do a family portrait in the nest couple of weeks. It is a couple with 3 children 8,7,3. They are an active family and love the outdoors and hunting etc. Does anyone have any good posing suggestions. I would like something different. I want these to be special for them. I am just getting started and have just a few stand by poses I use. Would love suggestions. Thank you ,Katrina

One idea I can pass on is to visit galleries of BPers who specialize in portraiture. Cassie Woodlee is one who comes to mind, Katrina. The props and poses she uses are terrific and you might see a thing or two that gives you an idea there! Here is her gallery link. Copy and paste this to your Internet browser: http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/gallery.php?memberID=32390&pageID=2&rows=30&style= Also BP has a search engine. You might be able to type in key words and get some ideas. Jim Zuckerman from BP had this to say:
It needs to be so out of focus, in fact, that it's completely undefined. This is best done with a telephoto lens and a large lens aperture. Unless you are going for a very different look (such as using a wide angle for an exaggerated perspective), I would suggest using a 200mm telephoto or longer for pictures of people outside. In addition, shoot them in the shade. Don't have any direct sunlight on them at all, and the background needs to be shaded as well. This means that their eyes will be open fully and you won't have any harsh contrast to deal with. These two simple ideas will make a world of difference in your outdoor portraiture. * * * Yours in shooting Better Photography,
