Photography Question

manipulating images

I have 2 pictures of a truck, one still and one running through the mud at a bog. I want to "superimpose" (not sure that's the correct term) one image over the other(so I have a big sort of faded one in the background with a smaller clearer one in front) The only program I own is the photoshop that came with my scanner. Without buying an expensive program such as adobe or such, does anyone know how I can do this?

Yep - select all, copy, and paste over the 2nd image as a new layer, adjust opacity, and flatten the layers and save as new image....

Thank you Damian, I am quite computer illiterate. This is something I can do in my scanner program? I'm afraid you lost me after the cut and paste part. I am fairly new to both photography and computers.

You do this after you've scanned the two images.... open them in Photoshop, and copy and paste on over the other...

Maybe this link will help you http://www.zeroplace.com/photoshop/layerfade/layerfade.html
