Photography Question

infrared photography with Maxxums

HI,

I have 2 Maxxums, a 5QD and an old 5000. My instruction booklet says not to use IR film with the 5QD because the film advance mechanism could fog the film. Does anyone know if the same holds true for the 5000?

Also, the film I want to use is Ilford sfx, would this fog the same as "regular" IR film?

The 5QD has an infrared sensor that counts the sprocket holes to advance the film. If the old 5000, doesn't automatically advance your film, then there is probably not an infrared sensor in that one.
And I would imagine any film that in ifrared sensitive, that the sensor would fog it.
If you do a search on infrared on this site, you will find some older discussions on the subject that might help answer your questions.

Thanks so much Rhonda. My old 5000 body does advance film automatically, so maybe I'll just use the SFX with my old Canon AE-1.

Thanks again.
