Photography Question

General

I apologize if this question is not categorized correctly - couldn't determine a better place. Can anyone recommend where I might obtain replacement value insurance for my camera equipment? My renters insurance has a limit of $500, and that would just about replace one of my lenses, not come anywhere near covering my Canon 10D and other lenses, etc. I am concerned because I am leaving for Europe on the 16th.

You should be able to get a rider to your renter's policy that has higher limits. In my experience it is not worth it. The premiums are very high for coverage like this covering jewelry, photo equipment, stereos, etc. The premiums are high because coverage for these items is subject to an increased "moral" risk. These items are small and valuable and easily "disappeared" for fraudulent claims.

  Jim,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the policy in question doen't offer a rider. Most likely for the exact reason you mention. Great world we live in these days!
