Is Nikon Coolpix 8700 good for sports photography I currently have a Canon Elan 7e with a Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM lens. I have a problem with my left wrist(carpel tunnel pain) after shooting for about 15min. because the lens is so heavy for me. My question is would the Nikon Coolpix 8700 be a good choice to shoot sports photography? It has a zoom equivalence of 35-280mm. But I am not sure of the shutter speed, ISO, etc. I would need to shoot soccer, football, and baseball both during the day and at night.

Hi Belinda you should go check out the reviews on the Nikon D70... great speed sport photography such as soccer, football & baseball... and agree with Greg nice to have a monopod to help with the weight after awhile... good luck Jill :)

I don't think Nikon 8700 is a good choice for sport photos. I had tested the following 8 mega pizzle DC . They are: Sony 828, Nikon 8700, Canon Pro1,and Konica Minolta A2. Finally I bought KM A2 for the following reasons: 1. antishake, it is good for sports, kids and wild life (insects and small animals) even better than my Nikon D70 in this part. 2. Manual zoom, faster than N 8700 and C Pro 1. 3. Auto switch between LCD and DVF. 4. Pocket size. The cons are: 1. warm in AWB. 2. short battery working time. However, since I have both N D70 and KM A2, I agree with Jill, go for D70 if size and weight is not a question to be consider.
