Photography Question

How to re-color 1 object after converting to B&W?

I need help!! I want to convert a color picture to B&W in photoshop and then restore the color in only one part. For example, on a portrait, Id like to convert it to B&W and then restore the eye and/or lip color only. I tried using the eyedropper tool to take a sample of the eye and/or lip color, and then tried to add the color back in using the paint bucket tool, This didnt work very well at all. The paint bucket tool only selects pixels of the exact same color to fill with the new color so it colors some parts that shouldnt be colored and leaves others b&w that should be colored. Also the color is not translucent so you cant see the natural lines and shadows of the eyes and/or lips. If anyone can explain to me how I can acheive this effect in PS Elements, I would really appreciate it!!

Hi Kelly, I've posted a thread detailing this technique here:

It should work with some modifications in PS elements. I use PhotoShop 7.0.

Have fun!
Nancy
