Getting Going with Simmon Omega Variable Condenser

I have just set up my darkroom. I bought a Simmon Omega Variable Condenser Enlarger, for 2" to 6 3/8 enlarging lens. I am accustomed to the college darkroom, which has a filter built in. With this enlarger do I buy photography paper with different weights to bring out the contrast with my black and white photos? Where do I start? At school I am accustomed to using a filter # 2 1/2, and my prints turn out great. Claudia

If your negatives are printing OK with a 2.5 filter you can use number 2 paper and extend the developeing time. Or you can buy multigrade paper with the filters. I don't know who is developeing your film, if it is you I suggest that you stick with whatever you are doing and stick with watever ISO you are useing as you could spend a lot of time trying to get better results.
